Not Today
Aliah Rupawala, is a 24 year old Bohri Muslim girl from a very traditional family. She secretly becomes a Suicide Prevention Counsellor and on her first day she encounters a 52 year old man about to jump from the terrace of a high-rise. As she begins to try to bring him down, she is forced to confront why she became a Suicide Prevention Counsellor in the first place, and also share a lot of herself to get him to share and open up. Going all in, to save him, she begins to deal with and release the loneliness and grief in herself to be able to do the same in the caller. And in doing so, ends up healing not just her own heart, but also the heart of the man who has called, a man who has himself been a Suicide Prevention Counsellor for 15 years.

They both need to help each other out, before the shadow sides of their minds completely take over their worlds and push them into doom. Will Kaali be able to step out of her Dissociative Identity disorder and make peace with the identities created within her? Will Vikrant be able to reconnect with the feminine, beyond his addiction and find salvation in doing his work righteously and aptly?

atmosphere gets toxic. Men get crippled while women bear stillborn or
disabled children or else suffer from infertility. Against this backdrop, Dama
receives a marriage proposal for his only daughter. 24 hours before the
groom’s family visits him, Dama gets anxious to keep the condition of the
village hidden from them.

“The Lasting August” is a collaborative hand-drawn animated film by SAMAAJ, bringing together artists, writers, and musicians from India and Pakistan. It explores the aftermath of the 1947 partition and aims to connect people on a human level in a politically divided world. The film consists of seven short stories adapted from the book “The Other in the Mirror,” with contributions from renowned authors. The project promotes cultural exchange and artistic partnerships between the two countries, fostering understanding and people-to-people connections.
